Conductor - Clive Allsopp

Clive has conducted an eclectic mix of ensembles during his career, these include Stourbridge Youth Swing Band which won gold medals at the National Concert Band Festival.  He has written for and worked as M.D. for Lyn Paul and Soloman King in the 1980’s and has conducted numerous Brass and Wind Bands.  He has been conductor of the Walsall Symphony Orchestra since 2000.

As a performer he includes in his C.V. Welsh National Opera; Black and White Minstrel Show; Cannon and Ball and tours which have seen him play in all parts of the UK.  He was the longest serving member (13 years) of the Chico Arnez Impact of Brass, playing trombone with the band including tours to UAE and a host of broadcasts for the Jimmy Young Show and Night Ride.  These days he concentrates on playing modern jazz with his bands: Rhythm & Bone, Jazz Corporation and Coronary Trombosa.

In 2011 Clive retired from his role in instrumental education after 35 years with Solihull Music Service to concentrate on his passions of playing the trombone, conducting and writing in as many genres as time will allow.
